The tallest building in San Sebastian
During our free tour you usually ask us about a huge and gray tower that you can see on the other side of the Urumea river. Well, that is the Atocha tower, the tallest building in San Sebastian. With 70’45 meters and 18 stores, 17 of which are houses, it is the biggest construction in town. Designed in 1970 by the architects Mariano Oteiza and Juan Cruz Saralegui, few locals have been able to see it from the inside, but we all see it (like it or not) , so at least it is free!
Many people don’t like it
We should keep in mind that in San Sebastian the maximum height allowed for buildings of 11 stores is 32 meters, but they made an exception for this tower.
