Does it snow in san sebastian?
One question we usually hear during the Free Tour is if it snows a lot in Donosti, if we have hard winters. It is logical considering that in summer the cloudy days are not rare when not rainy.
The answer is no. The winters here are mild and snow is really rare in San Sebastián, and we have no more than 3 or 4 days (usually nights) in which soft snow falls just worthy of that name that does not curdle. In fact, on Tuesday, February 28, 2018, the first snowfall fell in 22 years!
What we have in Donosti is rain, lots of rain. In fact, we are the city with the most days with rainfall in Spain, usually xirimiri but sometimes real deluges of water fall. But the people of San Sebastian are used to the cloudburst, and much rain has to fall to disrupt our day to day.
So you know, when you come to San Sebastian in winter, leave the snow boots at home and bring a raincoat, rain boots and a good umbrella with you.
