Aquarium Donostia in San Sebastian

The Aquarium of Donostia is a place you must visit if you are in San Sebastian for a few days, as it is an incredible experience for both the youngest members of the family and adults, both of whom will enjoy themselves and will be able to see the nature of the sea in all its splendour.

The Aquarium is located on the quay of San Sebastian, specifically in the Plaza de Carlos Blasco Imaz, where you will find more than 200 species that can come from anywhere in the world.

This Aquarium is divided into three areas. Firstly, the oceanarium, where you will find a large pool crossed by a 360º transparent tunnel, from which you can see all the fish that are in the tank at that moment.

Another area is the themed aquariums, where you will find fish from different parts of the world grouped into species according to their origin and fauna.

Finally, there are the touch aquariums, which are small open aquariums where you can experience the experience of touching different marine species, such as sea urchins, starfish, etc.

In the Aquarium you will also find exhibitions on the maritime history of San Sebastian, related to fishing and the Basque whalers.

Tickets to the Aquarium Donostia cost 14.95 euros for adults, 6.50 euros for children aged 4 to 12 and 9 euros for pensioners.

Duration of the visit to the Donostia Aquarium

The duration of the visit to the Aquarium of Donostia is 1 or 2 hours maximum.

If you want to stop for lunch or a rest, there is a restaurant at the top of the Aquarium, where you will find dishes such as grilled octopus, baby squid, sautéed clams, etc.

While you stop off, you can enjoy the views of the Bay of Biscay and the Bay of La Concha through the large windows.

Donostia Aquarium opening hours

The opening hours of the Donostia Aquarium vary depending on whether it is on weekdays or weekends.

If you visit the Aquarium during the week, it will be open from 11:00 am until 7:00 pm.

If it is a weekend, the opening time will be the same, 11:00 a.m., but the closing time will be extended from 19:00 to 20:00.

Parking near the Aquarium Donostia

The Aquarium does not have its own car park, but a few minutes away you will find private car parks with affordable prices.

Depending on where you arrive you will find one car park or another. If you are coming from the centre, you will find private car parks 15 minutes’ walk away.

If you arrive from the Paseo Nuevo area, you will find private parking right next to the Aquarium.
